Science Without Fiction 2024 Inspires New Generations with a Day of Science and Technology in Concepción

Ciencia Sin Ficción 2024, the largest science outreach event in Chile, kicked off its new edition with two days filled with knowledge, inspiration, and enthusiasm.

Organized by Fundación Chile 2100 and sponsored by Arauco, Inacap, and Aclara, the event brought together over 2,500 participants on its first day, primarily high school students, who engaged in enriching scientific dialogue.

The event featured more than 100 delegations from educational institutions across the country, enjoying presentations on astronomy, applied mathematics, cosmology, biodiversity, and astrophysics, as well as topics related to gender, diversity, and inclusion.

In this context, prominent speakers captured the audience's attention with talks that not only imparted knowledge but also inspired the younger generation to delve into the world of science and technology. One of these speakers was Paulina Assmann, CEO of Sequre Quantum and an expert on the Advisory Commission for Quantum Technologies, who motivated attendees with her presentation on the importance of quantum physics in technological innovation and digital security.

In this framework, Assmann emphasized the need to bring science closer to new generations, stating, “Promoting science, particularly quantum physics, is essential for driving innovation and technological progress, especially in a country like Chile, where science is emerging as an important pillar. Seeing the interest of so many young people here at Ciencia Sin Ficción reinforces the importance of these gatherings. We have a responsibility to inspire them and show them that science is not just for a select few, but an accessible path for all that can change our world.”
